The waste gas capture initiative
Who We Are

The Waste Gas Capture Initiative is dedicated to securing America’s energy future through waste methane capture. Coal Mine Methane, or Remediated Mine Gas (RMG), is produced by capturing and upgrading waste gases from active and abandoned mines. This underutilized resource strengthens America’s energy security by putting otherwise wasted fuels to productive use.

Waste methane capture is a largely untapped source of reliable, American energy that creates good-paying jobs in some of the nation’s most socio-economically challenged regions. By advancing an all-of-the-above, domestic energy strategy, the WGCI is working to power America with its own resources.
