The waste gas capture initiative
Our Mission

The Waste Gas Capture Initiative is dedicated to securing America’s sustainable energy future through mine methane capture. Currently, mine methane makes up a significant percentage of U.S. greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and this effort aims to raise awareness of how capturing waste methane can drive down emissions and create a cleaner future.

Without intervention, waste methane will continue to pollute our atmosphere, but a strong mine methane capture industry will increase economic activity, particularly in some of the nation’s most socio-economically challenged regions, while also addressing an essential environmental need.

Who We Are

The Waste Gas Capture Initiative advocates for the capture and utilization of mine methane, a sustainable, clean source of natural gas. We believe a strong mine methane capture industry will build America’s sustainable energy future, increase American energy security, and catalyze economic growth in regions most affected by the energy transition.
