Waste Gas Capture Initiative Applauds Updated 45ZCF-GREET Model

45ZCF-GREET model now includes coal mine methane (CMM) as a qualifying feedstock for the 45Z tax credit, a major step forward to incentivize CMM capture

After the U.S. Department of Energy’s announcement of updates to the 45ZCF-GREET model, Waste Gas Capture Initiative (WGCI) Executive Director Mike Moore issued the following statement:

“Capturing and utilizing coal mine methane means job creation, new investments, and a stronger and more resilient American energy supply, and including CMM as a qualifying feedstock for the 45Z transportation fuel credit will be welcome to the many rural communities throughout Appalachia that will benefit economically from the expansion of this important process. The WGCI appreciates the Trump administration’s leadership in taking this critical step, and we look forward to continuing our work to ensure CMM capture and utilization can help deliver on securing America’s energy dominance.”
