The WGCI will continue its work to ensure waste methane is utilized to promote America’s energy security and economic opportunity
In response to the U.S. Treasury Department’s announcement of its finalized rule on implementation of the Clean Hydrogen Production Credit, Waste Gas Capture Initiative (WGCI) Executive Director Mike Moore issued the following statement:
“Capturing and utilizing waste methane holds the promise of creating jobs, growing the American economy, and promoting a diverse and secure energy supply for our nation. While the Treasury’s 45V rule is a first, critical step in recognizing the important economic and environmental value coal mine methane mitigation can have for clean hydrogen production, the incoming administration has a great opportunity to expand on this in more effectively leveraging waste methane to create new investment and jobs in local communities and promote energy security across Appalachia and beyond. The WGCI looks forward to partnering with the next administration on energy solutions for American communities and workers and ensuring that waste methane capture and utilization lives up to its full potential.”
